The 80km is on seven (7) routes. The routes visit various parks, birding areas, trails, residential areas and several spectacular views. The flower petal configuration allows the participant to start and finish at the Broadmead Shopping Centre. A $5.00 fee is collected when you pre-register. Completion of the event entitles the participant IVV credit for 80km for Distance and 4 Event credits. Must complete checkpoint answers. Stamps are given by the contact. No time limit for completing all 7 routes.

Maritime Museum of BC, 28 Bastion Square
In the centre of downtown Victoria, approximately 2 blocks north of the Parliament Buildings. Bastion Square is located between the ‘Bay Centre’ and ‘Inner Harbour.’ From Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal and the Victoria International Airport, south on Patricia Bay Hwy. (#17). This becomes Blanshard St. Continue on to downtown Victoria.
Daily 09:30 to 16:30 except closed Christmas Day.
The 10 km route is a spectacular and scenic route that winds along the ocean to Macauley Point, with an extra 3k loop to Saxe Point. Both locations offer wonderful views of Fisgard Lighthouse. This oldest lighthouse on the west coast of Canada is located at the entrance to Esquimalt Harbour. The tower is a white conical brick tower with a red lantern. There is a brick 2 story light keepers house. It was established in 1860, and was automated in 1929 and continues in operation today.
For a closer look at the lighthouse drive to Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Park in Colwood. Admission to the lighthouse is included in the park entrance fee.

The 10 / 15-km route (Songhees) goes through downtown Victoria to Esquimalt. Enjoy beautiful water views along the West Bay / Songhees Harbourside Walkway and Saxe Point. (Rating 1B) The 5 km route is on pavement in downtown area (1A).

UVic 5 km – A walk through the gardens and wooded trails of the University of Victoria campus (Rating 1B). Camosun 5 km – A walk through north Oak Bay residential area and Camosun College Lansdowne Campus (Rating 1A). Uplands 10 km – This mostly paved route includes some of Victoria’s most attractive residential areas with some water views (Rating 2A). Mount Tolmie 10 km – a little more challenging walk, going on the University of Victoria grounds, along residential streets, and up 1 km to the top of Mount Tolmie for a panoramic view of the city (Rating 2B).

Blenkinsop Lake 10km goes on trails, through parks and lovely treed streets in the Broadmead residential area and a segment of the Lochside Trail that crosses the restored trestle bridge over Blenkinsop Lake – a favourite spot for bird watchers. Colquitz Creek 10km includes a scenic walk on chip trails along Colquitz Creek and residential streets of Broadmead. One 5 km route goes around Rithet Bog [bird sanctuary] and residential streets. The second 5 km route goes through the Broadmead residential area..

OR Drive over the Lions Gate Bridge and along Marine Drive through West Vancouver to the Community Centre (~ 20 km). From the BC Ferry terminal, pedestrians walk south / left on Keith Rd. Continue along the gravel path and stairs to Marine Drive. Cross at the crosswalk and left to the Community Centre (1.5 km).
From the Ferry terminal drive along Bay St., Nelson and Marine Drive, OR take the #250 bus.

Western 5-km loop goes through the “village” of Dundarave and along Centennial
Seawalk, while Eastern 5-km loop goes through the “villages” of Ambleside and Park Royal and along edge of Ambleside Park. All three “villages” have interesting shops and eateries and both loops offer great views of English Bay and Vancouver. Not suitable for wheelchairs or baby strollers.

REGISTER: From downtown Vancouver (West Georgia St.), take the ‘blue bus’ #250. Takes ~ 40 mins. or drive over the Lions Gate Bridge and along Marine Drive through West Vancouver to the Community Centre (~ 20 kms)
From the BC Ferry terminal, pedestrians walk south/left on Keith Rd. Continue along the gravel path and stairs to Marine Drive. Cross at the crosswalk and left to the Community Centre (1.5 km).
From the Ferry terminal, drive along Bay St., Nelson and Marine Drive, OR take the #250 bus. START POINT: From the Community Centre, right on Marine Dr, drive about 5 km and turn right on Beacon Lane and follow to Lighthouse Park.The #250 bus can be taken from the Community Centre to a stop near Beacon Lane.

About 2 km of this walk are in Lighthouse Park, including a viewpoint overlooking Point Atkinson Lighthouse. The rest of the route is on winding, hilly roads and paths through a wealthy residential neighbourhood with some great views of Burrard Inlet. Not suitable for wheelchairs or baby strollers. Park may be closed during times of extreme fire hazard.

[1.] Gleneagles Community Centre has walk boxes for 2 YREs. Registration for Lighthouse Park Walk (YRE 255) is at Community Centre, but start/finish point is in Lighthouse Park, 5 km away. Horseshoe Bay walk (YRE 104) starts/finishes at Community Centre.
[2.] Lighthouse Park could be closed during times of high fire hazard.
