Exit Hyw 104 at Exit 12, follow the signs for Route #2 to Masstown. The walk box is located on a shelf under the free access computer in the restaurant. Continue on Route #2 to Bass River after signing in. Park at the Heritage Interpretive Centre on the main street of Bass River (across from the Dominion Chair Company.

The walk follows Route #2 to quiet country roads leading to the Bass River Lighthouse. There is a lovely view of Cobequid Bay at the lighthouse and access to the beach. (Be careful of the tides which come in both high and fast.) Walk back through the village . The walk continues through a farm property, past cottages and back to the beach for another view of the lighthouse.

Avery’s Farm Market, 175 Pictou Rd.
From Hwy. #104, take Exit #7, right to Pictou Rd. Follow Pictou Rd. 4 -5 km to reach Avery’s Market From Hwy. #102, take Exit #14. Turn east on Robie St. to end. Left on Queen St. at the lights. At 3rd set of lights, turn left on Walker St. and proceed over bridge to Able Hill. Turn right to Pictou Rd. and drive 2 km. Avery’s Farm Market is opposite Tim Hortons.
Daily 09:00-22:00 (May be closed on Christmas)
The trail is totally on sidewalks and pathways with no significant obstacles and is suitable for strollers. Seasonal alternate routes are offered to view spring flower gardens and for shady summer hikes along the Cobequid Trail [Rating: 1B]. 5 km routes: [1] features a Tulip Walk [in season] and [2] Cobequid Trail not suitable for strollers.
The Farmer’s Co-op cheese Factory is visible from the Salmon River Escarpment on the Cobiquid Trail

Exit 25 off Hwy #104. Turn left up the hill and past the hospital to McGregor St. Turn left onto McGregor and left onto S. Frederick.

The trail is totally on sidewalks and roadways with no significant obstacles and is suitable for strollers. This trail is the Samson / Albion Trail which follows the East River and passes the site of former coal mines which were a major employer in the area. Pets must be on a leash at all times.
