How to get to your YRE Start Point

  1. A.If you have a car-based GPS system: you can confidently use the civic address to get near-perfect results all the time. In larger urban areas, the Postal Code shown should get you to within a block or less of the start point. In rural areas or smaller communities, however, the margin of error increases when using just the postal code. *** beside the postal code indicates you should also use the civic address in small communities or rural areas.

  2. B.If you do not have a car-based GPS system: you have several options.
[1] Click on the Postal Code found at the end of each YRE description. This will open your internet browser and produce a MapQuest page showing the approximate location of the Start Point. Adjust the slider on the left side of the map to increase or decrease the scale of the map. You can print this page as reference if you already have a good idea of where the Start Point is.

[2] Next, if you wish printed directions and a map showing the route to the Start Point, click on the ‘Directions’ button at the top of the page.

When you have clicked the ‘Directions’ button, enter at least the town or city where you are leaving from in the ‘Starting Location’ box, then the Postal Code for the YRE Start Point in the ‘Ending Location’ box. Then press the ‘Get Directions’ button to produce complete printed directions and a large scale map from the ‘Starting Location’ to the ‘Ending Location’. An example is shown below for someone travelling from [or through] Qualicum Beach to get to the YRE walk in Ucluelet on the very west coast of Vancouver Island.

  1. [3] Entering the complete civic address from your own Starting Point and the complete civic address to the Ending Point / YRE Start Point will give you the greatest degree of accuracy.

  2. Special Note: All links from Postal Codes for Year Round and Seasonal Events only have been checked. If the Postal Code alone did not produce an acceptably accurate position, then the complete civic address was also used to increase accuracy. Such cases are indicated by the notation  ***  beside the postal code.
