Please note: Before travelling any significant distance to do one of these Year Round and Seasonal walks, walkers should always contact the 'Contact Person' or club shown with each walk. If either of these are unavailable, please contact the appropriate Regional Director or the CVF office at cvffcv@bellnet.ca The CVF makes every effort to keep this information up to date, but changes do occur from time to time that may inconvenience walkers who travel.

Ultramar - Park Street Corner Store, 11 Park St.  902-678-5554 [Park St. is Hwy #1 in Kentville west.]

Located in the west end of Kentville and can be reached from the east via Hwy 101, Exits 12 or 13 and from the west via Hwy 101 Exit 14.

07:00- dusk daily; Closed Christmas

All on sidewalks or Rails-to-Trails.  No significant hills, could be walked with stroller.  Caution must be used when walking on the side of the road where there are no sidewalks.

Peck’s Convenience Store, 2 Wolfe St.

From the Trans Canada Highway (Route 105) take Exit 20E to Route 125, following the directions to Sydney, North Sydney, Louisbourg.  Take Exit 8, turn right, Hwy. 22 (Mira Rd.) to Louisbourg, a distance of 37 km from Exit 8. There is limited parking at the store, park on the right hand side of the store .

08:00 - 19:00 daily

The walk takes place mostly on sidewalks and roadways within the town of Louisbourg. The route along Havenside Rd. to the lighthouse has some significant hills and follows the coastline along a narrow twisting road past small fishing wharves.  There are great view of Fortress Louisbourg from the road and at the site of the oldest lighthouse in Canada. The trail to Gun Cove is now open and provides spectacular views along the coastline.

From Hwy 102, take exit 4C to Lower Sackville.  Cross Cobequid Rd. and continue on Glendale to the lights at McDougall Ave.  Turn right.  The Sports Stadium is in front of you.  Free parking is available.

Dawn to dusk.

Coach Trail is entirely on sidewalks and is suitable for strollers OR Lake Trail which follows a trail around First Lake and partly in woods and is not suitable for strollers.  Choice of two routes, both rated 2C.

Exit 25 off Hwy #104. Turn left up the hill and past the hospital to McGregor St. Turn left onto McGregor and left onto S. Frederick.

Daily 07:00-20:00 (may be closed on holidays)

The trail is totally on sidewalks and roadways with no significant obstacles and is suitable for strollers. This trail is the Samson / Albion Trail which follows the East River and passes the site of former coal mines which were a major employer in the area. Pets must be on a leash at all times.

From Trans Canada Highway (Route 105 E) take Exit 20E to Route 125, following the directions to Sydney, North Sydney. Take Exit 2, Johnson Road to Peppett Street, watch for the sign ‘Clansman Motel’ on your right. 

07:00 - 19:00 daily

This walk is entirely on sidewalks around the community of North Sydney and features a  harbourside boardwalk and views of the Newfoundland ferrys at dockside. A coastal community with excellent views of the Sydney harbour. Could  be done while waiting for the Newfoundland ferry.

Cambridge Suites Hotel, 380 Esplanade

From the TransCanada Highway  Route 105 take exit 20E to Route 125 following the directions to Sydney and Louisbourg.  Take exit 6E to King’s Road and Sydney.  Use caution as exits 6W, the first one, and 6E are very close together.  As you arrive in downtown Sydney, King’s Road takes a jog right, then left and becomes the Esplanade. On your left, watch for the Fire Hall. The Cambridge Suites is one block past the Fire Hall, on the same side. From Sydney take Route. 4 into the city downtown then as above.

08:00 - 19:00 daily

The trail is an easy walk, generally on pavement, with no significant hills and continues along the Sydney Harbour Boardwalk, "the Big Fiddle", and also features the Baille Ard Nature Trail. This event could be walked with a  stroller and / or wheelchair, though some restrictions may apply in the woods at Baille Ard Nature Trail. A modified  alternate route is now available through Wentworth and Rotary Parks. See details in Walk Box.

Exit 14 off Hwy #102. Turn right. At the second set of lights turn left. Again at the second set of lights turn left onto Prince St. Ample parking

Daily 08:00-21:00, except Christmas

The trail is totally on sidewalks and pathways with no significant obstacles and is suitable for strollers.  Seasonal alternate routes [Rating: 2B] are offered May - Oct. Route goes through streets of Truro and paths of Victoria Park with over 1000 acres of woodland.

Irving Circle K, 2113 Hwy #1 (Exit 7 off Hwy 101 in Falmouth.

Exit 6 off Hwy 101, Windsor, 2nd left is Gerrish St.

Mon - Sat: 11:00 - dusk

The walk takes you on a crushed gravel path around the blockhouse as well as Haliburton House and a paved path around the lake; suitable for strollers.

There are three significant hills, but the walk is on town streets, mostly sidewalks, however there are some side streets with no sidewalks.  Please take care when walking in these areas and always walk facing the traffic.
