Follow the MacKenzie Highway to Enterprise. Register at Winnie's in Enterprise and then follow the signs to Alexandra Falls, about 5 mins.
Tu - Su 07:00 - 19:00. CLOSED Mondays.
The trail is beautifully maintained and showcases 2 waterfalls, one taller than Niagara Falls.

NWT Centennial Library, 75 Woodland Drive
From the MacKenzie Highway follow Hwy. 2 to Hay River. The highway becomes MacKenzie Dr. At Commercial turn right and right again onto Woodland Dr. to the Library. After registering follow the directions from the Library to the Start Point, Diamond Jenness School. The school was designed by Douglas Cardinal, the designer of the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

Friday, Saturday, & Sunday 13:00-17:00
The route follows the Kiwanis Nature Trail to Great Slave Lake. It also passes along the Hay River. Parts are very uneven. Bears may also be a problem in certain areas. This hike is a Cenotaph and Scholars Walk, passing 4 schools and 1 community college. Of special interest is Diamond Jenness Secondary School, designed by Douglas Cardinal and painted purple. The trail follows the Hay River and on the 10 K section hikers must be alert for bears.

Yellowknife is located 940 miles / 1513 km. north of Edmonton, AB. You may drive to Yellowknife by taking Highways 43, 35, 1, 3 & 4 north of Edmonton. Air Canada, Canadian North and WestJet fly to Yellowknife from Edmonton.
Walk during daylight hours.
The trail has 5.2 km. on a nature trail around Frame Lake and 4.8 km. in the heritage part of the city. Moderate hill and some stair climbing, part on rocky trail, part sidewalks and some roadways.
Weather: May +10 C to 0 C; June +21 C to +8 C; July +21 C to +12 C; Aug +18 C to +10 C; The trail will be open regardless of weather. Please dress appropriately.

Special note / attraction: Walkers must contact the Prairies/North Director for instructions before departing for Yellowknife. There are no stamp or instructions at the start point.
