From #Hwy 417 (Queensway) to Nicholas exit. Follow Nicholas to the Rideau Centre where pay parking is available.

Closed until further notice.

11:30 - dusk.  Closed on January 1. Opening time may be later on statutory holidays.

Trail is suitable for strollers and with some difficulty for wheelchairs.  Pets are allowed, but not in start point.  The route includes Parliament Hill, heritage residential areas and historic buildings.  There are numerous sculptures along the trail.

Exit 417 at Vanier Parkway.  Go north on parkway to Montreal Road. Turn left on Montreal Rd., Shell Station is on the right immediately before the bridge.  PLEASE ASK ATTENDANT ABOUT PARKING ON LOT.

Trail open 08:00-18:00. Store open 24 hrs. day. Limited parking in area. May charge to park on lot. (Parking lot at shopping mall across street.)

The trail is on city streets and paved pathways and passes through historic New Edinburgh and Rockcliffe areas.

Directions to all Start Points are given in the instruction booklet. This is the only walk in Canada that will actually tell you how to take a bus back to the Start Point!

Start times vary according to Start Points. See instruction booklet for specific times and other recommendations.

This RLDW (Round and Long Distance Walk) was the first of it’s kind in Canada. The route of this walk will take you through all parts of the city (the former Cities of Ottawa, Nepean, Kanata, Vanier, Orleans and Rockcliffe) and then over to Gatineau, Quebec. Walkers who started the RLDW in 2002 version and finish in 2010 will receive credit for the 176 km. route they started. New registrants will receive new instructions for the new 200 km.

From Hwy 174 / 417, take the Nicholas Street exit to Rideau, right on Rideau to King Edward, left on King Edward to the Champagne Pool at the corner of York and King Edward.

Daily except Christmas, Jan. 1 and official holidays. Sun / dim: 09:00-14:00; Mon / lun - Wed / mer: 06:15-22:00; Thu / jeu: 09:00 - 22:00; Fri / ven: 06:15 - 22:00; Sat / sam: 09:00 - 15:00.

A thematic walk - “Tribute to the Canadian Forces”. The many possible routes for this walk will take you by and through places and monuments of military interest. Examples: The War Museum, various statues, military cemeteries, the Peace Keeping Monument, etc. A completely documented brochure explaining some 36 locations is available free of charge for walkers.
