WALK INFORMATION: There are three routes: #1 Central Park 5k & 10k (rating 1B): The route goes along BC Parkway Urban Trail (beside the SkyTrain) & through Central Park before returning via residential streets. #2 Central Park plus two parks 10k (rating 2B): Walk through Central Park, Sparwood Park & Captain Cooks Park. Walk will pass Ocean View Burial Park with an option to walk in this park. #3 Deer Lake Park 10k & 11k (rating 2B): Walk will go to Deer Lake Park & walk on trails & boardwalks in the park & around the lake. DIRECTIONS TO START POINT: From the South: On reaching Courtenay, take Cliffe Ave to 5th St; Right over the 5th St Bridge. The centre is on the left at the far end of the park. From the North: The Centre is located on Old Island Hwy #19A, on the Right by the play park. Parking is available just north of the building.

DELTA - PT063 (Ladner)

DIRECTIONS TO START POINT: By car: From Hwy #99, take Hwy #17A exit; Right on Ladner Trunk Rd (Hwy #10); Right into Trenant Park Mall; Restaurant is beside Ladner Trunk Rd.  By transit: From Bridgeport Station (Canada Line), bus #601 (South Delta); on Ladner Trunk Rd, get off at 52A St, just past Ricky's on Right. For route #3, the driving directions will be included on the route instructions.

WALK INFORMATION: Ask staff for Walk Box (at reception). There are three routes. #1 Ladner Historic Town Walk 5k & 10k: A walk in & around the historic village of Ladner, South Delta. This charming 115 year-old fishing village has it all - dykes, marinas, parks, sloughs & a very quaint, walkable, town centre. Route passes by Memorial Park, the Fraser River & South Arm marshes along residential streets. Discover why this charming little village is one of the most popular set locations for the Lower Mainland film industry. #2 Ladner Pioneer Walk 6k, 10k: If you are interested in heritage homes & history of Ladner, you will enjoy this walk. It follows two Heritage Roads & passes by two heritage homes, one historic barn & one monastery. #3 Ladner Parks Walk 6k, 10k, 13k: For the 6k & 10k, register at Start Point & drive to start at Ladner Harbour Park at 4905 Mcneelys Way. You will take a perimeter route that borders the scenic Fraser River Estuary. As you exit the park, proceed along Ferry Rd to the South Arm Marshes where a little bit of unexpected magic awaits you. This route also passes through Ernie Burnett Park & a rare gem of nature known only to locals so it has yet to be named. Truly, a “magical” walk! For the 13k, you can start this walk from the Start Point at Ricky's and walk to Ladner Harbour Park and then continue with the 10k walk. Washrooms available at Start/Finish & along routes.

DELTA - PT080

DIRECTIONS TO START POINT: New Balance Store is located at the Sunridge Plaza at 120 St (Scott Rd) & 64 Ave.  From Hwy #91 take the 64 Ave exit, east (Kittson Parkway, becomes 64 Ave) to 120 St; turn Right & Right into driveway past gas station.

WALK INFORMATION: Walk Box - ask at Customer service desk, box is in back room.  Three routes: Watershed Park walk follows residential streets & trails in the Park, passing the Old Artesian Well that was once Delta's water supply. Good views of Mud Bay. Cougar Canyon walk follows residential areas to the famous peat "Burns Bog" Conservation Area. The third route is called Peggy's walk, which goes through residential streets and trails in urban Parks.  Washrooms available at start/finish.  There are also two 5k routes available. 

 

DELTA - PT139

DIRECTIONS TO START POINT: Cravings Coffee is located at the SW corner of 84 Ave & 112 St. Take Hwy #91; Exit at Nordel Way; Right on 84 Ave to 112 St.

WALK INFORMATION: Walk Box is at Service Desk. There are three routes: The "Bog" walk proceeds through residential areas to the famous peat "Burns Bog" Conservation Area which contains intriguing ground cover & growth while being home to a variety of wildlife. The Nordel Street walk proceeds through residential areas, schools & parkland. The third route is called Shirley's walk, along North Delta Greenway. There are also three 5k & one 6k routes available.  Washrooms at start point.

KIMBERLEY - PT105          online

WALK INFORMATION:  This scenic walk follows a wooded trail overlooking Mark Creek & the St. Mary's River Valley to arrive in Marysville: an early miner's community. The walk resumes along the banks of Mark Creek back to the start point. Along the way are excellent views & peaceful rest stops. Watch for small trout in the tributaries leading into Mark Creek. Washrooms available at the start.

 

LADYSMITH - PT199

START POINT:  Upper parking Lot of Coronation Mall,  370 Trans-Canada Hwy, #24,  Ladysmith  V9G 1T9

DIRECTIONS TO START POINT: Walk box is located near the front door of a private residence at 1141 Stillin Dr. From the North on  #1: Right at the first traffic light in Ladysmith (First Ave/Ludlow Rd). From the South on the Trans Canada Hwy #1: Left at the third traffic light in Ladysmith (First Ave/Ludlow Rd). From both directions, follow past Tim Horton's; Right at the roundabout & continue up the hill;. Continue through 4-way stop; Right on Stillin Dr to 1141 (7 houses down the block on the right). Register & drive to Coronation Mall in the south end of Ladysmith to start the walk.

WALK INFORMATION: The 6k & one 10k option is along the waterfront & through the main street of Ladysmith. The second 10k option (3B) is on trails along Holland Creek with a view of a waterfall & a small residential component. A 7k version of Holland Creek (also 3B) omits the residential component.

LAKE COWICHAN - PT082           online

WALK INFORMATION: Walk goes through some residential areas & downtown Lake Cowichan, plus some stretches of the Great Trail including two old trestle bridges. One of three Cowichan Valley walks (082, 136, & 196).

LANGLEY - PT138

DIRECTIONS TO START POINT: The hotel is on the SE corner of Glover Rd & Langley By-Pass. From the east: take Hwy #1 westbound, exit #66 - 232 St; take Hwy #10 (toward Vancouver Island ferries) becomes Glover Rd; Left at Langley By-Pass. From the west: take Hwy #10 becoming Langley By-Pass. Continue to Glover Rd.

WALK INFORMATION: Walk Box is at Registration Desk. There are two routes. The Langley Parks walk follows residential streets & trails through parks - Rotary Nicomekl (exercise trails), Sendall Gardens (exotic plant greenhouse) & Langley City; along water courses beside the Nicomekl River, where you often see birds & wildlife. Subject to flooding in spring & winter. There is an alternative 10k "Flood" route available. Washrooms at start point & Sendall Gardens. There are also three 5k routes available. 

 

MAYNE ISLAND - PT303           online

Washrooms available at ferry terminal, Miners Bay, Georgina Point Park & outside Japanese garden.

Take in the spectacular view of Vancouver city across Burrard Inlet. Check out the history of the “Benjamin Sewall”.  #2 Spirit Trail West - McKay Creek 6k & 10k: Walk the Spirit Trail west of Lonsdale Quay that will take you along the scenic waterfront with beautiful house boats & spectacular views of the water & city across the Burrard Inlet. Then, head north through several parks following McKay Creek, walking along Ravine Greenway. Then into a trail along Mosquito Creek. #3 Mosquito Creek 6k, 10k & 11k: Route mainly follows the Spirit Trail, Mosquito Creek & The Great Trail through forested area uphill from waterfront to Montroyal underpass & back. WALK INFORMATION: Walk Box at Customer Service Desk. There are three routes. The first route - register & drive to start at the Serpentine Hills Parking lot on 96 Ave @ 172 St. Walk on trails within Tynehead Regional Park with a Salmon Hatchery. The park is located along the Serpentine River, a unique salmon spawning river. The trails in the park are gravel or bark mulch with some minor hills. The second route to Surrey Lake follows residential streets to Fleetwood Park, alongside Fleetwood Creek & Bear Creek to Surrey Lake on the Surrey Lake Greenway. Walk through the Rose Garden. Then to the north side of Lost Lagoon. Check out the Rhododendron Garden and the Blue Heron Colony. Pass English Bay and the Inukshuk. Finish with a heritage walk in the West End. #4 Science World 10k (rating 2B): Walk along the Seawall passing Sunset Beach to the Roundhouse, Science World & to Terry Fox Plaza (Famous Canadian - Terry Fox). 7k (rating 2B) route available but will only go to the Roundhouse & Yaletown. #5 Christmas Lights 10k (rating 2B): This walk is only available after the first week in December. Best time to do this walk is late afternoon. Route goes through Downtown Vancouver to  “CHRISTMAS AT CANADA PLACE”, along the Seaside Greenway to the “Bright Nights” in Stanley Park. Return via Beach Avenue and pass the LIGHTS OF HOPE at St. Paul’s Hospital. For all routes, there are only the 5k Western Loop & the 6k Eastern Loop. WALK INFORMATION: Blenkinsop Lake - 10k goes on trails, through parks & lovely treed streets in the Broadmead residential area & a segment of the Lochside Trail that crosses the restored trestle bridge over Blenkinsop Lake - a favourite spot for bird watchers. Colquitz Creek - 10k includes a scenic walk on chip trails along Colquitz Creek & residential streets of Broadmead. One 5k route goes around Rithet's Bog (bird sanctuary) & residential streets. The second 5k route goes through the Broadmead residential area.

WEST VANCOUVER - PT104 (Horseshoe Bay)        online

WALK INFORMATION:   Part of the route is on the Great Trail with great water views south & west. The rest of the route is through residential areas & the village of Horseshoe Bay.  Washrooms available at Start/Finish & in Horseshoe Bay Park.

 

WEST VANCOUVER - PT252 (Ambleside)

DIRECTIONS TO START POINT: By car: Cross Lions Gate Bridge to West Vancouver. From Marine Dr: turn Left on 15th St for one block; Park on Argyle Ave, one block closer to water. By transit: From Granville SkyTrain Station, walk south to West Georgia St. Take bus #250 (Horseshoe Bay). On Marine Dr, get off at 15th St & walk one block toward water.

WALK INFORMATION: Ask staff for Walk Box (in back). There are three routes. #1 Ambleside & Dundarave: Western 5k loop goes through "village" of Dundarave & along Centennial Seawalk, while Eastern 5k loop goes through "villages" of Ambleside & Park Royal & along edge of Ambleside Park. #2 Capilano River 10k: An extension of the Eastern loop going north up the Capilano River to North Vancouver. 13k Option: Cross Lions Gate Bridge and return will add 3k to this walk. #3 Lions Gate Bridge - Prospect Point 10k: Another extension of the Eastern loop crossing Lions Gate Bridge to Prospect Point in Stanley Park. All routes offer great views of English Bay & Vancouver. Dogs not allowed on some paths. Washrooms available at Start/Finish & along routes.

 

WEST VANCOUVER - PT255 (Lighthouse Park)        online

WALK INFORMATION: About 2k of this walk are in Lighthouse Park, including a viewpoint overlooking Point Atkinson Lighthouse. The rest of the route is on winding, hilly roads & paths through a wealthy residential neighbourhood with some great views of Burrard Inlet.  Park may be closed during times of extreme fire hazard.

WALK INFORMATION: Walk on paved & gravel trails. Route crosses Fitzsimmons Creek via a Covered Bridge. Alternate walk in the valley available all year.  Call Snow Phone 604-687-7507 to confirm early & late ski conditions as weather conditions vary. Note there is a fee for the XC ski trail.
